How to use table 2.2-2.
To determine the appropriate per acre amount of product needed, go to table 2.2-22 and find a product and the listed rate in ounces per 1,000 feet of linear row. In table X, find the rate in ounces per 1,000 linear feet of row from column 1. Find the appropriate row spacing for the field you will be applying the soil insecticide and follow it down to the rate per 1,000 feet of linear row that you want to apply. The value in the box where you follow the row for ounces per 1,000 feet of row over to the column with the desired row space is the rate of product you will be applying to your field. To calculate pounds of material needed per acre for rates not included in the table, simply multiple the rate per 1,000 feet of linear row by the conversion factor listed in table X for the row spacing in the field. If you would like to determine the amount of active ingredient per acre being applied, divided the percentage of active ingredient value of the formulation by 100 and then multiple the pounds of product per acre being applied:
pounds ai per acre = (% ai of formulation / 100) * (lb material).
For example, Force is to be applied at 4 oz per 1,000 feet of row to a field planted to 30 inch rows. Based on the above table, the amount of product will be 4.36 pounds. Since Force is a 3G formulation, it contains 3% active ingredient, total active ingredient per acre is (3 / 100) X (4.36) = 0.13 lb. This method will work for all formulations that are based on a percentage of material and ounces applied per 1,000 linear feet per row.
